Located on the eastern shore of Lake Ray Roberts, one of Texas' newest lakes, Pilot Point rests comfortably in the middle of the Blackland Prairie and at the beginning of the rolling hills of the Red River Valley. Named for its location on the top of a ridge that could be seen from far distances, Pilot Point began as a railroad town in the late 19th century like many of other small north Texas communities. Pilot Point is a beautiful mixture of old and new with antique shops, two thriving shopping centers, a modern medical complex, and one of the states best small town libraries. The DFW International Airport and Alliance Airport are less than an hour drive away giving residents easy access to some of the metroplex's chief amenities. Jordan Branch Park, with its 400 acres of fishing, hiking, horseback-riding, and picnicking space, is located only two miles west of town as is Isle du Bois State Park, considered to be one of the most beautiful parks in the state. Pilot Point is the served by the Pilot Point Independent School District.
