Denton Homes For Sale

The city of Denton, with its 80,537 permanent residents is home to two major universities, the University of North Texas and Texas Woman's University and is located at northern most edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

Dentonites take great pride in being part of a unique and diverse creative community, and many consider this atmosphere to be the primary value of life in Denton that separates the town from other Texas cities. Despite the lack of some metropolitan advantages afforded by larger cultural centers, such as a well-developed public transportation system (though bus service is available to downtown Dallas), or a job market better tailored to the creative class, many in Denton's creative community see the city as the antidote lifestyle choice to the ballooning traffic and population concerns of the larger cultural center of Dallas (which is often referenced when describing Denton).

Located in the western portion of Denton is the University of North Texas, whose music program (specifically the jazz program) is one of the top collegiate music programs in the country. UNT encompasses a large majority of the cities temporary residents. Along with numerous golf courses and parks, this area of Denton is home to the Denton Municipal Airport and is the point of intersection of Interstate Highway 35 E and W. The junction point combines the two portions of the highway that split to the Dallas and Ft. Worth metropolitan areas respectively, making access to the rest of the metroplex from western Denton a pure breeze. This section of the city also hosts one of the metroplex's Texas Instrument facilities.

The central downtown area of Denton is home to the annual Denton Arts and Jazz Festival A city-sponsored event that brings over 200,000 people per year for live music, food, drink, crafts, and recreation and the semi annual Fry Street Fair (a music festival held on the cities historic Fry Street - the cultural epicenter of Denton). Lake Lewisville (one of north Texas' most popular lake spots) is also located on the edge of Denton. Combining the beautiful natural landscape with an urban feel, the heart of Denton has a unique residential flare that's neither rural nor urban, yet both at the same time.

The southern section of Denton (which is located in the "V" shaped split between IH 35 W and E) is a sparse residential area that offers its inhabitants quick access to Lake Lewisville (one of the metroplex's most popular lake spots), which is only 10 minute car ride away as well as the Golden Triangle Mall (a north Texas shopping staple). Home to the Lantana Golf Course, the Denton Country Club, Oakmount Country Club and a slew of lakeside and non-lakeside parks, Denton South offers a quick escape from the urban lifestyle, but with all the big city convenience literally within arms reach.
