Coppell Real Estate and Texas History
Originally called Gibbs Station in 1887, after Texas lieutenant governor Barnett Gibbs, the city was renamed in 1892 to Coppell. Like its' obscure original namesake the town remained hidden until the development of DFW International Airport, five miles to its' south, in the mid-1970's. As the planes took off from the runways so did the sleepy community of Coppell.
